Concepcioun Handmade Journals
Concepcioun: It's all in the name

Concepcioun?

Etymology: Middle English concepcioun, from Old French conception, from Latin conception-, conceptio, from concipere
2 A: the capacity, function, or process of forming or understanding ideas or abstractions or their symbols B: a general idea: concept C: a complex product of abstract or reflective thinking D: the sum of a person's ideas and beliefs concerning something
3: the originating of something in the mind
synonym: see IDEA

The act of writing into a journal makes something intangible into something tangible. If it is either creating written words onto journal paper or acting on those ideas after closing the journal and walking out the door; it is all creating an idea and then making it into a reality.
Thus, concepcioun.

About the Artist

my face Just a small town girl trying to make some extra cash doing what she loves... Currently, I live in the Central New York area working as a designer at a small design firm doing great design work. Concepcioun is a part-time venture for me because of my love for art and my impatience for painting (love to get dirty, but I hate the clean up!)

I have been making handmade, hand bound journals for several years and have finally perfected my process to create a great quality journal. I think that these journals are unique because I have combined the traditional methods of japanese style stab binding with contemporary imagery and color palettes.

Design plays a big part of my life. It ranges from the way I decorate my apartment to the way I design these journals. I enjoy creating these journals and I hope that you enjoy them as well.
